As a rule of thumb (and unless otherwise prescribed): 1 drop of propolis tincture per kilogram of body weight, i.e. a person weighing 60 kg should consume a maximum of 60 drops of propolis tincture (preferably divided into 3 doses over the day). When taking it for the first time, it is recommended to start with only a tenth of the amount and slowly increase the dosage of propolis.
What should I look out for when buying propolis?
When buying propolis, look for high-quality, certified goods. If you want to achieve the best effect, you should only buy high-quality propolis with the highest possible propolis content. In the case of inferior goods, the effect often leaves a lot to be desired. Don't save in the wrong place - a high quality product cannot be found in the supermarket for a few euros. In addition, one should make sure that propolis is not contaminated.
Can propolis be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Even though propolis is said to have a number of positive effects, it is generally not recommended to take bee putty resin during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This is justified with the allergic potential of propolis. In particular, caution is required in the case of a pollen or bee sting allergy.
Does propolis help with nail fungus?
Propolis can effectively support the development of nail fungus, as propolis is one of the natural anti-fungal agents. Nail fungus (nail mycosis, onychomycosis) is an infectious disease that affects the fingernails and / or toenails and is caused by filamentous fungi (dermatophytes, molds) or sprouts (yeasts). The fungal spores cause a white to yellow-brown discoloration of the nail, it becomes thicker and often also brittle to crumbly. To treat nail fungus, apply the propolis tincture directly to the affected nail and let it dry. The propolis tincture then sticks to the nail and can develop its effect. Alternatively, foot baths with propolis can also be helpful. Put 30 drops of propolis tincture in a water bath. The exposure time should not be less than 20 minutes.
Does propolis help with toothache and inflamed gums?
Good results are achieved with propolis (e.g. propolis toothpaste or propolis tincture) in oral and dental care, e.g. with inflamed gums, caries and periodontal disease. This also applies to inflammation of the oral mucosa and generally to inflammation in the mouth and tongue area.
Propolis also has a strong anesthetic effect. This means that painkillers can be replaced in a natural way in the case of toothache, and the healing process is supported and positively influenced, for example, in tooth root treatments.

Can propolis also be used for pets?
As with humans, taking propolis does not replace a visit to the doctor - in this case, the veterinarian. Propolis balm is often used, for example, on dogs, cats or horses. The area of application includes small wounds, itchy eczema or supports grooming.
